Mill Valley Memorial Day Parade

Volunteers from Friends of No. 9 and Friends of Mt. Tam had a great time marching in Mill Valley’s Memorial Day Parade on May 27. There was a buzz in the air as we walked the 1.6 mile parade route from Old Mill School to Tam High with our 20 foot long banner of Engine No. 9, right behind all the great music coming from the Sweetwater float.

This was our first chance to really get the word out in Mill Valley about the locomotive and the opportunity to bring it home. As we walked along handing out candy and informational flyers, everyone had questions about where the locomotive has been and the plans for restoring it and bringing it home.

We are looking for more opportunities—parades, fairs and other events—to show off our banner and let people know about this project. If you would like to get involved, please contact us at info@friendsofno9.org.
